The “Shepard's Candle,” is pink because rose is a liturgical color for joy. The third Sunday of Advent is meant to remind us of the joy that the world experienced at the birth of Jesus, as well as the joy that the faithful have reached the midpoint of Advent.

Last night, our Grades 4-6 performed "The Legend of the Christmas King" Outstanding performance by all students. A Christmas concert to remember!

Merry Christmas! The last day of classes before Christmas is December 22nd. Then we will see you all back to school on Monday, January 8th!

Before Mass on Dec 22 at SHA at 8:45 am we will reenact Mary and Joseph’s journey to Bethlehem. Two students will dress up as Mary and Joseph and the whole school will follow them to the gym for Mass while singing O Come Emmanuel. This tradition arose from a combination of our Advent tradition of the travelling Mary and Joseph statues going from class to class each day of Advent and the Mexican Catholic tradition of Los Posadas where a group of people go from house to house with someone dressed up as Mary and Joseph looking for a place to rest until they finally come to where the innkeeper says yes. Please join us!

What are Heart Words? Heart Words are irregularly spelled high-frequency words. We call them Heart Words because some part of the word will have to be “learned by heart.” Heart Words are used so frequently that they need to be read and spelled automatically. One way that we practice our “Heart Words” in 1Miller is by singing songs to help us remember. Check out these catchy ways to remember how to spell “said” and “what”!

Last night, Grades 1-3 performed "Once Upon a Starry Night." A beautiful night full of Christmas spirit, community and singing!

SHA Kid's ONLY Christmas Store was a BIG Success! We would not be able to do our Christmas store without volunteers. Our volunteers showed up with Christmas spirit and helping hands. Thank you for volunteering in the store (restocking, helping students shop and checkout) and to our awesome gift wrappers (who hopefully didn't get that many paper cuts!) We appreciate you. You made the Christmas Store a huge success. A big thank you to our School Council. We appreciate all that you do in order to make the Christmas Store happen!
